Subject: criteria updates
Tomski and Maurice
and Lee,
can you take a look at this draft list of criteria
questions? Im still thinking whats best to say for sources ......i did it real
quick today (since we had power outage last night)so there's probably something
missing here
Emil
------------------------------
List of items, questions to update the criteria for
process water (Excluding HVAC/Air Treatment)
General Summary: In the CFS Kick Off
Meeting, it was noted that the process water part of CFS used whatever
criteria information that CFS had as of Nov 27 2006, to do
the RDR process water concept and cost. The ML RF had more information
as compared to the rest of the area system, in terms of listing individual water
cooled components, although incomplete to conceptualize the LCW piping scheme.
It was used as basis and the rest of the area system are scaled from it based on
their respective heat load. It was noted that for the EDR, we will update the
criteria to update the process water concept to bring it to some matured but
still conceptual level to be used as baseline for any value engg, which means
that we'll try to conceptualize LCW system, and have a water plant design
started in other area system instead of scaling approach used in RDR. We
assumed that this process (of criteria updating/gathering) actually starts at
EDR and not before. As a starting point of moving to that direction, we're asked
to list what information is needed to get the criteria updated.
ML RF: Water Plant at Shaft
7,4 & 6 (5,3,2 are shared with sources)
Expected Contact person: Shigeki
Fukuda?
CFS (RDR) Contact: Atsushi and Tomski
Assumptions:
The number of RF per water plant is the same as
that in RDR (totals from T. Peterson)
will ignore RTML transfer lines along the tunnel,
that would otherwise be a load to said water plants
Summary: We have some filled out tables from Nov 27 2006 that needs to be
reviewed to see if the components and numbers are still current (This is
probably just a simple "yes" or "no" answer). Second, there are missing
items in the table, (Keith suggested having cut sheets of equipment spec with
regard to water), not all this needs to be filled, the minimum
information for each component that is really needed to evaluate the LCW
distribution to this are the following
a) What's the heat load to water and design
flow (from this CFS can calculate delta T and flow velocity as
well) or Heat load to water and
delta T (fom this CFS can calculate the flow and velocity)
or Water Flow and delta T
(from this CFS can calculate heat load to water and velocity)
b) What's the maximum allowable or
exit water temperature (from this we can evaluate the series
flow/stacking potential)
BDS: Water plant at Shaft
1.0
Expected Contact Person: Andrei Seryei & Paul
Bellomo
CFS (RDR) Contact: Fred Asiri
Assumptions:
All water cooled components here are
LCW
All water cooled Magnets are 40 F delta T as long as the max temp (outlet)
doesnt exceed 140F
Summary: We have a total heat load for BDS in terms
of total KW based on Paul Bellomo's sheet. We also have the Power Supply
load and flow at 18F delta T from Paul Bellomo. We believe this is still
current. To evaluate the LCW distribution further to this
area. We need to have items a above for any water cooled components in
this area and
Establish locations of this total KW heat load
along the distance of BDS. If not, an assumption of % of this load
along the length (maybe unformly distributed as a starting point) . Also
the power supply locations or distribution along the distrance of BDS.
Cable distribution (that is 50% of this cable to service tunnel and 50% to beam
tunnel)
DR: Water Plant at Shaft 12
and 13:
Expected Contact:Andy Wolski
CFS (RDR) Contact: Tomski
Assumptions: All components need LCW
Summary: We have a total KW numbers from Oct 16
2006 email. We need to find out if those are still current. Also locations
(approximate or guess) of these water cooled components and listing similar
to item a in ML above. We have Power supplies total numbers from Paul Bellomo at
18F delta T.
RTML: Water plant at Shaft
10 and 11
Expected Contact Person: PT
CFS (RDR) Contact: JeanLuc and Gerry
Assumptions: No (or ignore) small heat load on the
transfer line from DR to RTML
We have total KW numbers dated Oct 27 2006 email.
same discussion as BDS
IR: (There was no IR
process water number in RDR, and there's Working Group that is developing
criteria for this)
Expected Contact Person: Andrei
Expected CFS contact:
Fred
