News ---------- Takseshi sent around a proposal for talks at the tracking review in a separate mail a few days ago. More discussion on this point will be part of the next WP meeting; it was decided that the next meeting should be in two weeks, on 6 Dec.2006. 2. WP Meeting --------------------------------- The relevant files for this WP meeting #15 are at the bottom of the page at http://www.mppmu.mpg.de/~settles/tpc/lp/wpmtg/wpmtg.html -2. a. LP tasks. As a reminder, everyond should give feedback on the results of our discussions on the tasklist at http://www.mppmu.mpg.de/~settles/tpc/lp/wpmtg/Project_List4_LP_TPC.doc b. Dan's latest interation on the LP endplate. See http://www.mppmu.mpg.de/~settles/tpc/lp/wpmtg/wpmtg.html and click on 2006-11-15_Peterson_LP_Endplate_FieldCageFlange.ppt Additional information is at Dan's usual website: http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/~dpp/linear_collider/LargePrototype.html Dan went through his ppt slides andexplained in detail these latest drawings, and there were a lot of comments from participants. I won't attempt to summarize everything that was discussed, but recommend that you read though those slides which also contain the details of the design. The questions that arose from discussion are: --how much larger should the 2mm gap between the endcap and fieldcage be? --what should the maximum thickness be for the gem stack + gate, i.e. due to spacing between Gem layers + maximum gate thickness? --what is the maximum thickness of the pad plane? The answers to these questions will determine the longitudinal dimension between the endplate-fieldcage surface and the endplate-panel surface. It was decided that this dimension should be the same for the Gem endplate and the Micromegas endplate, and that differences between the two are adjusted by spacers or thickness of the panels. Dan mentioned that Lee Sawyer from Louisiana Tech is interested in developing Gem-tracker version for the FC just behind the LCTPC endplate. For the next WP meetings, Dan will be working on the Micromegas endplate and a 7-panel endplate. c. Peter Schade produced sketches for the support of the LP1 fieldcage and the Si detectors inside the magnet, see http://www.mppmu.mpg.de/~settles/tpc/lp/wpmtg/wpmtg.html and click on Mounting1.png and Mounting2.png. These drawings show the ideas. The LP1 will slide on two rails near the bottom of the magnet bore, the mechanical load will be transerred to the outer flanges of the magnet dewar The Si detectors will mounted on the inner surface of the magnet bore. There will be notches which will allow the fieldcage to be rotated by quantized amounts. 3. AOB ---------- Next WP phonemeeting will be on Wednesday Dec.6 at the unual time.
