Here is a summary; conclusions are marked by *****. Results from earlier meetings referred to are all clickable at http://mppmu.mpg.de/~settles/tpc/lp/wpmtg/wpmtg.html Greetings, Ron WP#28 02/05/2007 -------------------------------------------- Wednesday 25 April 2007 West Coast East Coast W.Europe Japan 02.00 05.00 11.00 18.00 Present: ------------- Paul Colas Klaus Dehmelt Vincent Lepeltier Dan Peterson (by email) Ron Settles Jan Timmermans Summary -------------------- 1. LCTPC collaboration items a. Our tracking-review will be finished after final comments have been sent early next week. There is a lot of collaboration work to catch up on: -"Project List LP TPC, version 4" which contains several items not yet covered. -Finances and manpower situation. -Finish the formation of our LCTPC collaboration, e.g., steering-, editorial-, speaker's-committees. The goal is to understand these items at the (as announced ealier) *****LCTPC COLLABORATION MEETING***** Monday June 4, 2007 (day following LCWS07) DESY room to be announced 08:30 Closed meeting of RC,CB,TB 10:00-noon Open meeting ************************************* 2. LP issues Here is the list of issues discussed: -Panel sealing. *****Dan reports that the parts will be finished during the next two days and that test will start after that. -Stress-relief tests. *****Dan wrote that the tests are proceeding as explained in the summary of last week's meeting WP#27 (item c) -Panel shape and connectors *****See summary of WP#27 (item f) -Drawing of field-mapping gear (Marcello Losasso). *****To be delivered soon? -Identify who can analyze the field-map data (CERN or DESY students being discussed). *****Michael Hauschild working. -Plan hardware and software steps needed for coordinate systems for the field-map, the PCMAG and the TPC systems. -Understand relation between TPC analysis and EUDET NA2 computing/analysis framework. *****Being coordinated by our Workpackage 3. Here is Peter Wienemann's invitation to join their meetings (identical to WP#27 (item g)): The main focus at the moment is on the development of a common reconstruction, analysis and simulation framework called MarlinTPC which is based on LCIO. You can find some information about the project under http://www-flc.desy.de/ilcsoft/ilcsoftware/marlintpc/ If you want to get informed about new MarlinTPC revisions, releases or meetings you should subscribe to the MarlinTPC mailing list by going to https://lists.desy.de/sympa/info/ilcsoft-marlintpc and click on "subscribe". -Understand relation between TPC DAQ (Alice, Lund, Bonn) and EUDET JRA1 DAQ for the pixel telescope. *****Lund, Bonn working and need help from the LCTPC collaboration. -Understand the trigger timing for LP1. *****Lastest news from Matin Killenberg is that sub-nanosecond accuracy is possible. -Plan LP1-hardware-mechanics steps up to end 2007. *****In progress. -Plan LP1-electronics steps up to end 2007. *****In progress, to be discussed at next meeting. -Plan LCTPC-electronics steps up to end 2007. *****Here is the proposal by Luciano (see WP#27 (item e)): --June 13: Video/phone meeting with prepared talks. --July 25: Video/phone meeting with preparted talks. --After the October 8-10 Eudet annual meeting in Paris. Face-to-face "Advanced-endcap" meeting on October 11 with prepared talks. *****The discussion started last week via an email from Takeshi; the contents of this discussion can be the subject of the first meeting on June 13. 3. LP input After last week, here is something urgent to attend to: a. Situation with the LP1 electronics (Leif). Since last week, Leif has started putting together cost scenarios and milestones for the LPTPC electronics; this is not ready for distribution yet. All numbers are being checked, but based on preliminary ones from last week, it looks like we will be needing for the 10000 preamp channels ca. 100kEuro, if the yield of Altro chips from the Star/Mips-TPC order is high enough (we should know this in a week or so because Lund has started testing Star Altros). Klaus Desch suggested that we can try to get about 20kEuro from several of the groups in order to generate the cash needed. *****The CDC (Japanese), Bonn, Saclay, Desy groups think 20kEuro (each) should be possible to arrange, so this is a good start. ++ Luciano's deadline for knowing how many preamp channels we want order is week 19, so at the latest we should decide at the next meeting, WP#29 on 9 May 2007. Therefore this understanding of the costs and contributions is now urgent!
