Let me know if there are any corrections... Cheers, Ron WP#29.5 on LP1 electronics 11/05/2007 -------------------------------------------- Friday 11 May 2007 West Coast East Coast W.Europe Japan 07.00 10.00 16.00 23.00 Present: -Paul Colas -Klaus Dehmelt -Madhu Dixit -Keisuke Fujii -Akimasa Ishikawa -Leif Joennson -Sasha Kaukher -Jean-Pierre Martin -Takeshi Matsuda -Luciano Musa -Shemin Liu (Carleton, sp?) -Ron Settles -Akira Sugiyama -Takashi Watanabi ...anyone forgotten? Summary -------------------- 1. LP1 electronics order The meeting was short because Luciano received the good news on Thursday evening that the company (mosis, sp?) would produce 1000 chips (for 10000 channels) even though we don't place an order for the whole lot right now. That means we can order the 200 chips (for 2000 channels as planned within Eudet) immediately, and we have more time to take care of the administrative paper work within the various groups for ordering the rest. Leif has updated the overview for the finances which is attached to this summary. Money for the 2000 channels is seen to be available (ca. 66kEuro), and the CDC groups in Japan are ready to buy more. Takeshi said one has to find a way to transfer these funds according to their rules (i.e. they are billed for hardware which has to be sent to Kek); we will be working on this this week. As can be seen, there is still a fair amount missing (60kEuro) for the rest of the 10000 channels, so all groups are asked if to look into the possibility of contributing. Conclusion: Luciano has the green light for ordering 2000 channels a.s.a.p. 2. AOB Paul circulated a proposal to switch to the T2K electronics if there are problems with the finances. The majority think that it is not a good idea to change our direction from the CERN/Alice-based ideas at this stage of the game. The development starting with Alice is being conceived such that it will evolve into the LCTPC requirements in about a year, and this line should continue. Madhu said that it is also not clear whether the T2K is what LCTPC needs. Luciano said that this question is suited to the dedicated LCTPC video meeting on June 13, where different ideas for the LCTPC-electronics concept can be presented. Reminder, the proposal is to have (at least) three LCTPC-electronics meetings: --June 13: Video/phone meeting with prepared talks. --July 25: Video/phone meeting with prepared talks. --After the October 8-10 Eudet annual meeting in Paris. Face-to-face "Advanced-endcap" meeting on October 10 afternoon and October 11 morning with prepared talks. [ Part 2, "" Application/MSWORD 67KB. ] [ Unable to print this part. ]
