Summary -------------------- 1. News 2. LP/LCTPC questions a. Electronics -----LP1-electronics. Luciano's deadline for knowing how many preamp channels we want to order is week 19, namely now. So we wanted to try to decide at this meeting on the number of channels to order. The basis for this: Leif's breakdown with cost estimates and timeline was used. After a long discussion (which I won't try to summarize in detail), We could not conclude on the number of channels to order since we still need more information about the cost breakdown. It turns out that a significant certain of money for the 2000 Eudet channels is not yet covered (contrary to what we originally thought). We decided to have have another phonemeeting Friday to try to sort out the 2000- and the 10000-channel scenarios. Leif is working on update of the finances which will be distributed as soon as it is ready. Luciano will try to have feedback from the company about the possibility of ordering in stages, eg 2000(Eudet)+N channels preliminary order followed by N' channels later (to give time to take care of the administrative side of applying for the money). As noted at today's meeting CDC (Japan), Bonn, Carleton, Cornell, Desy, Lundand Saclay all have possibilities, but lead time is required for applying for the money in most cases. Luciano also needs a certain guarantee from the institutes which can also take time. ----LCTPC-electronics steps up to end 2007. Here is the proposal by Luciano; please respond about the dates: --June 13: Video/phone meeting with prepared talks. --July 25: Video/phone meeting with prepared talks. --After the October 8-10 Eudet annual meeting in Paris. Face-to-face "Advanced-endcap" meeting on October 10 afternoon and October 11 morning with prepared talks. The discussion started last week via an email from Takeshi; the contents of this discussion can be the subject of the first meeting on June 13. b. LP mechanics ----Latest status were described by Dan on -gas sealing test -stress relief test which can be found at the usual place http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/~dpp/linear_collider/LargePrototype.html The stress-relief tests look good (little residual movement). The gas-leak rate is still too high; this was just a first attempt however, and Dan has ideas for improvement which will be tried out when he gets back from vacation. ----Paul sent around files about panel dimensions (they came too late to be attached to the agenda); Dan was able look at them to see that the dimensions were incorrect. This led to a discussion about the final shape of the panels: NB.NB.NB.NB.NB.NB!!! ------------------ In principle, the stay-clear radius could be 362mm (including an extra 3mm clearance inside the field cage), which is still larger than the 357mm in Dan's drawings. After another long discussion, it was decided to not change the 357mm (this would take too long for a rather minor change), so that the shape and dimensions on Dan's drawings are now FINAL! That is, see the left drawing under "2007-03-20 Bounding Boxes on Endplate" and the ones under "2007-03-27 Readout Module". Since the shape and dimensions have now been decided, Lund (Ulf) can now start working on the connector positioning. ----Other points: -Trigger timing accuracy: Martin will report details at our next meeting. -Drawing of field-mapping gear (Marcello Losasso): Klaus Dehmelt has received some information, but there are still problems to be worked out. c.
