From settles@mppmu.mpg.de Wed Jun 27 15:00:48 2007 Date: Wed, 27 Jun 2007 12:07:38 +0200 (CEST) From: Ronald Dean Settles To: lctpc@desy.de Subject: [lctpc] Agenda of the WP#33 phonemeeting today Dear LP/LCTPC friends, The WP phonemeeting today will continue the discussion started at our face-to-face meeting in Desy three weeks ago. Here is the agenda, where I have listed some open questions for LP1. If you can't join the phonemeeting, please send your comments by email and I will include them in the summary of the meeting... Cheers, Ron WP#33 27/06/2007 -------------------------------------------- Wednesday 9 May 2007 West Coast East Coast W.Europe Japan 07.00 10.00 16.00 23.00 To join, dial +494089981390, after a few seconds into an answer in German, type the code number 52872# (LCTPC#). Agenda -------------------- 1. Klaus Dehmelt will lead the discussion on an important point to specify a.s.a.p.: how the setup should be configured for cosmic running. --how should the TPC be rotated and by how much? --where should the trigger counters be located, inside or outside the magnet? --what else? 2a. After Dan Peterson's talk at Desy 3 weeks ago, here are some points to clarify (see Dan's latest drawings at his usual place http://w4.lns.cornell.edu/~dpp/linear_collider/LargePrototype.html): --gas-tightness tests: 2mbar overpressure has been used successfully by Star, so shouldn't we use the same for LP1? --gas inlet/outlet, where? --temperature stability/cooling? --cable supports? --Number of bolts and pins, see next agenda item. --What else? 2b. Peter Schade's fieldcage report 3 weeks ago resulted new specifications for the overall diameter. Are the following dimensions correct? --i.d. of fieldcage 720mm --wall of fieldcage 25mm on the radius=50mm on the diameter --SiLC detectors 35mm on the radius=70mm on the diameter --clearance 10mm ------- --total 850mm Dan's stay-clear diameter of 714mm is therefore still valid, correct? --The number of bolts and pins for fixing the endplate to the fieldcage: proposal: to attach with 40 M6 bolts and 4 pin positions (NB: more than 2 pins at once is overdetermined, and with 2, one pin should be opposite a precision hole and the other opposite a "Siemen's Langloch"). --What else? 3. Leif discussed aspects of the pad layout and connectors 3 weeks ago; here are some questions which came up? --The layout was not yet adaped to a curve pad plane. --Lund's layout was for 1mmx4mm pads. --The CDC prototype is with 1.17mmx5.0mm pads. --Akira and Leif have sent files today (27.06.2007) to everybody with proposed layouts (they are attached to this email again), to be discussed today. --What else? 4.
