62nd ATF2 meeting

October 31 14:30- 16:30, Rm.425 bldg.3 at KEK.

1. Design update and schedule of FD stabilization system, Andrea Jeremie (LAPP)

file , pdf (17 pages, 1.3MB), ppt (17 pages, 1.7MB)

If magnets are located with center-to-center positions, the total length becomes to 2495mm, which is 10cm longer than the present one. Also, we need support of s-band BPM.

Therefore, a table of 3000mm length may be necessary, where spaces must be considered for sweeping magnet , Honda monitor ? The other issue is at the FD upstream, e.g. screen monitor ?

However, the 1st eigen mode frequency of longer table is 185Hz. Regarding this lower frequency, the LAPP engineer suggested that a 2400mm long table is preferable.

Q : 3m long is the same height ?
A : Yes, it is fixed to the floor as 2.4m one.
C : Since the legs are removed, we need additional plates of 40cm lenght and 142 mm heigh for QD0 and QF1.
Q : Do we put steel plate on the floor ?
A : At the ATF2 Annecy meeting, we agreed that there is no common steel plate. The LAPP table might have a plate at bottom.
Q : Ca you arrange the table location in 5cm back so that the 10cm can be split into two sides ?
A : It is good for better support.
Q : what is the status of transformation of equipments
A : We need 100-200 dollars in France in order to change the transportation schedule, i.e. keep the FFTB movers at LAPP. Also, C. Spencer informed that she must pay tax of 500 dollars .
Q : When will the FD system be send to KEK ?
A : It will be in may or June, sending them to KEK.
Q : Who will go to KEK for installation ?
A : Benoir, Andrea and mechanical engineer .
Q : In terms of sextupoles to be sent from KEK to SLAC, do we need SLAC permission ?
A : Andrei will check it.
C : Since KEK has paid the tax for their import, we have no problem at KEK, but we need radiation check .

2. Organization of the beam tests in this November and December, Philip Bambade (LAL) , Andrei Seryi (SLAC) , Shigeru KURODA (KEK)

Beam test plan is explained. Rob will arrive at KEK, 24 Nov. First study is to use static bump in QM7. We would like to have 3 shifts before 12th Dec .

C : Frank will visit after 12th Dem,
A : Maria will remain.
C : There will be face to face meeting at Orsay for 8,9 Nov.
Q : Can you connect by phone ?
A : We can connect for the summary session.
C : We (KEK) will install a vertical correction, can you provide the position?
A : Mark: closer to QM7 for maximizing vertical bump at QM7.
We would like to have beam shifts for 27 Nov through 21 Dec. emittance meas. at EXT for 5 shifts as follows;
Q : emittance projected or reconstructed ones (full matrix elements) ?
A : projected ones. We like to study how to propagate the errors.
C : We(SLAC) can help to reconstruct one with errors .
C : The studies must be useful/preparation for commissioning at ATF2.

3. Proposed OTR Modifications, Doug McCormick (SLAC)

file , pdf (1 page, 7MB), ppt (1 page, 6.2MB)

OTR (profile monitor) to be set near right after/downstream the septum modification is shown. We(SLAC) will bring it ( modification) and install it . It has ben used for a test of damage with 5 um -beam, where a copper plate has been damaged.

C : The modification is OK for KEK.

4. KEK site meeting ( in Japanese )

We discussed on the sextupoles at the ATF extraction line, which can be shipped to LAPP. They will be removed and inspected for radiation safety in November.

The next ATF2 meeting will be held on 14th November 2007, 2:30pm -, 3-gokan, 425, KEK, TV-ID#=31110 with the KEK Gatekeeper and ILC Webex.
