KEK site meeting

1. KEK home-works at the 5th ATF2 project meeting, Toshiaki Tauchi (KEK)

file , pdf (20 pages, 1.6MB)

We discussed on KEK home-works which have been raised at the 5th ATF2 project meeting., where C, Q and A are comments, questions and answers, respectively.

  1. Movers

    Draft agreement with Tor (SLAC)
  2. Commissioning

C : 6 matching quadrupoles ( QM11-16) must be used in the minimum optics. In addition, 3 quadrupoles of QF7, QD4A and QD2B are used. 3 + 1 bending magnets are also used.
Q : We need information of currents for these magnets, 13 in total, and number of steering magnets, monitors etc. .
C : Also, we need re-evaluation of the minimum optics consistently with latest optics v3.8 .
  3. Instrumentation

C : We should remind Justin for the list.
C : Okugi will estimate performance without 3 movers after Indian seminar in January 2008.
Q : Honda will make procedure to install IPBPM with bellows in the BSM-IP chamber.
  4. Remote participation

C : Terunuma will prepare a remote participation with no use of Webex. Especially, until a beam commissioning, i.e. first beam operation at ATF2, we will be able to connect to the ATF internal network for tuning QBPM and mover systems from SLAC and also other system such as LW and FONT from UK etc. . By the commissioning, the remote tuning will be prohibited. As explained in the project meeting, monitors can be available in nearly real time with local data base in DMZ of KEK network system.
C : It is possible to use the Webex supported by GDE at the Monday meeting. We will discuss on this issue there.
C : We should ask experimental groups instead of shift leaders for utilizing eLog at ATF control system. The eLog will accept figures, graphics as well as text. We will discuss on this issues at the Monday meeting, too.
  5. Flight simulator

C : We reaffirmed the international collaboration and importance of coordination in order to realize a flight simulation at ATF2/ATF . Coordinator should break up the simulator into tasks and identify responsible person for each task. Also the coordinator should administrate a time schedule to complete the flight simulator.
C : Shigeru Kuroda has been nominated for the coordinator. We urged him to take initiative in this international collaboration.
  6. Magnet

A : KEK will fabricate the manifolds to meet JIS, which will be set at side-shielding walls.
A : SLAC (C.Spencer) will make stands for the 3 FF sextupoles. KEK (Y.Honda) will make interfaces between stand and mover.
C : All the movers will be set in January 2008 without AC powers. Alignment of magnets will be within dynamic range of mover, i.e. ±1mm . Installation of magnets will start on 7th January 2008.
Q : Are there cables for the movers or we should prepare them ? We should ask Doug for details.
  7. Power supply

C : We would like to know results of US budget crisis for shipment and installation process, which has been occurred just before the project meeting.
C : We should go to SLAC for this purpose as early as possible in 2008.
  8. FD-support

  9. GM-measurements

C : Since Sugahara has only 3 HLS systems, he will ask S.Takeda for more HLS systems. At the project meeting, it was pointed out that FNAL has about 100 HLS systems.
Q: There are cracks at ATF2 floor as Andrei pointed out during tour at the project meeting. How deep are they ?
A : The depth is expected to be shallow. We may inspect them by dig around a crack. A crack was actually measured on 27th December. The result was reported here, and it will be presented at next meeting, 9th January 2008.
A : We can measure GM across cracks to observe any effect, i.e. in-coherency for deep crack.
