SiW EUDET Module - Technical Meeting

Europe/Zurich
Roman Poeschl
Present: Daniel Jeans, Mickael Frotin, Jean-Yves Hostachy, Denis Grondin, R.P. 1) R. Poeschl: News The main message of the talk was to make everybody aware that the EU requires to show that the devices which have been built by EUDET money allow for *transnational access* to these devices. There is travel money available for this transational access and we are expected to spend this money. In concrete this means that whenever there will be an (*international*) mission for the EUDET Ecal (and beyond) to bring together devices devlopped by different groups we have to transform it into an "Transnational Access" Examples: UK DAQ tested with "French" VFE could be made eligible for funding in terms of "Transnational Access" Grenoble Cooling System tested on LLR Alveolar structure is *not* eligible in terms of "Transnational Access" Further details are given under http://flc.web.lal.in2p3.fr/poeschl/docandmeet.html We should compile until the 8/6/09 all (international) missions which may happen during 2009 and write (lightweight) proposals on the purpose of this missions. Unfortunately, the granting of the travel has to be preceded by a proposal and a formal agreement by the EUDET management, which is naturally very open to proposals. I would like to ask you to send me informal mails on transnational access until to me and Christophe de la Taille until the 4/6/09. We may then figure out how to turn these into formal proposals which we can present to the EUDET management. I am sorry for this overhead but we are obliged to. 2) Demonstrator studies Between 18-20/5/09 the thermal tests with the demonstrator were continued. I don't want to preceed the results here but it looks as if the measurements were successful, however, we realised that the end of slab was still at ambient temperature. The data are to be send quickly to Julien Giraud in order to be able to draw first conclusions To continue I propose the following (after consultation of Julien B. P. Cornebise and D. Grondin) a) The cooling system remains at LAL until the 8/6/09 (Yes, Denis i have changed my mind) and will be sent back to Grenoble in that week. Until then we'll have the setup in place to repeat/add measurements if necessary. b) We continue to prepare the insertion of the thermal slab into the alveolar structure. The actual insertion constitutes a significant step towards the realisation of the whole EUDET Module. It would be great if this step could be completed until the UCL meeting. If not this should happen latest until 30/6/09. c) The thermal tests with the demonstrator should be continued along the lines of Denis' proposal. Adding to Denis' proposal this that we will place heating elements in all the eight alveolar layers adjacent to the actual thermal slab. The pursuing of these tests does need some prepatory work (some dummy slabs, modification of the cooling system) and may be realised during september (we are not in a hurry I guess). 3) Alveoalar layer with "EUDET Dimensions" Mickael stated that he will manage to fabricate the one alveolar layer with the EUDET Dimensions until the end of june. 4) VFE, FEVN and DIF Unfortunately there has been no discussion on this part
