SPIDER Testbeam meeting 09/06/2009 Present J. Velthuis (Bristol), J. Wilson (Birmingham), A. Nomerotski, R. Gao (Oxford), P. Dauncey (Imperial), R. Coath, Z. Zhang, M. Stanitzki (RAL) Minutes: Marcel As Dave is at CERN, Jaap gave an update on the DAQ status. Rui has received the TPAC firmware and will work to get it to compile again. Rui added, that he is confident to ge tit to compile by next week, if everything goes well. It required a set of Software tools to be installed. Rui and Dave will coordinate these efforts among themselves. Dave is also trying to talk to Matt while at CERN. ACTION Rui: Get it firmware to compile John W. asked about the inputs required for the TPAC in order for the PMT's to work. The Birmingham group has a similar system, but fot the TPAC it needs to be modified. Jaap pointed out, that a TLU could do the same already. Paul has already contacted Matt for details on the required puls length, but hasn't heard anything back yet. ACTION John: Contact Dave to find out what the TLU can do (already happened) Jaap is still following up with SPS on how to switch from pions to electrons ACTION Jaap talk to SPS people about this We moved then on to the Chip status reports Andrei summarized the status of the ISIS2, saying the there is no stable readout yet of the main array. They'll work on it till the end of the month and then decide on how to proceed. However taking ISIS2 for testbeam right now seems very optimistic. Rebecca summarized on the Fortis effort, Fortis 1.1 is back and 9/13 variants are already working, however there are some issues with the first column which could be again process-related, but this needs to be confirmed. She sees a larger output swing on some of the pixels which is a problem for the current readout and is addressed right now, Rebecca underlined that having a large signal is a good problem to have. The Tester is still being updated, the "week" turned out to be longer than expected. Marcel and Paul summarized the TPAC 1.2 status, both the test pixels with the analog output and the bulk array are working both on the "standard DPW" and the new high-res Epi. They are confident that the chip will be ready for the testbeam, so the real showstopper now will be the DAQ readiness. ACTION: Andrei, Rebecca, Paul to keep updating us on testbeam readiness Jaap summarized the current status of the testbeam preparations he needs all the costs for the tickets by today and he is hopeful, that we can get also get the Rental car paid by EUDET. Andrei has received the plans for the testbeam mechanics from Bristol and Stephanie has already ordered the material. We'll make three boxes and they are to be ready by mid July ACTION: Andrei and Marcel payment modalities for the Oxford shop work. Jaap reminded everybody to check their training and that they need Safety 1,2, 3. it seems to be possible to do them online, but this needs checking. Marcel and Jaap reminded everybody to get their documents ready for CERN. Jaap has arranged for a block booking at the hostel for the EUDET funded gang (Jaap, Rui, Yiming, Rebecca, Marcel) and arrangements need to be made for this week UPDATE Gary will go for Rebecca Jaap also said that the second parasitic week might be affected as they got 10 days instead of 7, so we may have to negotiate how to move things out Paul has investigated the Testbeam availability at DESY and it looks quite empty for the second half of the year. Next meeting, 1100-1200 June 16th
