SPIDER Testbeam meeting 28/07/2009 Present N. Watson, J. Wilson (Birmingham), P. Dauncey (Imperial), J.J. Velthuis, (Bristol), J. Crooks, M. Stanitzki, J.Strube (RAL), R. Gao (Oxford) Minutes: Marcel Marcel is still investigating how to set up budget codes, which is a bit more difficult without having Mike Tyndel and tony Medland around ACTION Marcel: Set up the budget codes Paul, Nigel, John and Marcel will try to assemble the stack tomorrow at Birmingham and have everything documented so we can easily reproduce everything at CERN. ACTION Marcel: bring big disk and monitor adapters to B'ham We also made a list of items to bring to CERN So far we have one Master PC (big disk) with the PMT's, two or three slave PC's, the monitoring PC, Box of cables the mechanical test stand, Power supplies for the PMT's and Xen's board an empty NIM crate for holding the USBDAQ boards and potentially the CAEN PS mainframe. For the fortis it will be three PC's, power supplies and 2 small boxes. Marcel and Jaap reminded people, that the space in the car is limited and Nigel cautioned as well that stuff will take a lot more space once its wrapped in bubble-wrap. Marcel would like to remind everyone, that we got a Ford Galaxy (or equiv) and not a Lockheed C-5 Galaxy. ACTION Everybody: Make a prioritized list of chip specific items to take to CERN. Mary-Elizabeth Shewry asked some questions on our dosimetry, Jaap cross-checked again and we don't need one as we are short-term visitors. Dave is at CERN and is making progress however currently the DAQ still crashes every few minutes. There are also some issues with Frames being skipped or completely read, but Dave and Rob Halsall are working on that one. We'll have an assembly exercise at Bristol next week, where Jaap, Rui and Marcel will assemble everything with Dave's supervision. We also need to provide a package list for customs and CERN, just to prove that these are our items ACTION Jaap, Marcel: Write that list Jaap and Paul discussed about Beam schedule, there is no clear answer yet, as the schedule seems to be a moving target. To be continued ... Jaap said that we are in area 86B, just for your Information. We moved on to the sensor inventory For the TPAC we decided to power the sensors off the USBDAQ. we have 4 potted sensors at B'ham and 10 potted sensors in total, three of them need trimming which can be done at RAL, if Paul documents the procedure. ACTION Paul: Document trimming procedure Marcel reminded everyone to register their laptops on the cERN network. We should also make a list of MAC's we need to register on the CERN network as well, so we can get started quickly. For next week Marcel asked to get a clear status report on the Monitoring Software for both TPAC and Fortis. Jaap and Jan agreed to do so. Marcel also asked everyone to comment about the run plans, Jamie has provided one for Fortis already, he also added that we have 6 Fortis 1.1 available Jamie and Jaap also discussed whether it is better to run the enitre sensor or only a small area for the calibration. Jaap will investigate. Action Jaap: investigate which area of Fortis to run to make alignment fastest. Jamie has given Allan the MAtlab software to generate the vector,s he'll provide a whole slwe of vectors for us to take to CERN. Given that we are low on people, Jamie will check his availability in the first week. Also we need a run plan for TPAC ACTION Marcel, Paul, Nigel : Run plan for TPAC Next meeting 4th of August, 1100
