Suggestion to re-install KNU IP low-Q cavity BPM between MQF16FF and MQF21X for resolution studies. An engineering design for a taper in the BPM installation up to the dipole cavity was shown. This is hoped to reduce the expected wakefields. Resolution studies will use MQM15FF, MQM16FF and MQF21X c-band cavity BPMs to calculate the resolution from the KNU BPM. This will only allow resolutions comparable to c-band BPM resolutions to be tested. It was expressed that this is still a worthwhile test as demonstrating <100nm resolution is a valuable milestone towards the 5-10nm goal and it is important to gain experience with the system.
The current estimates of c-band BPM resolutions are ~50-100nm, it was decided that further resolution studies of c-band BPMs should be carried out, with a ballistic optics arrangement between these 3 BPMs to get a clearer measure of their resolutions. This is scheduled for next weeks operation period, we will have a meeting Fri Apr 16 to review the resolution analysis and decide upon a possible installation later this month.
* G. White, wakefield impacts of IP-BPM at IP
A simulation was set up to look at beam size growth and jitter at IP due to IP BPM. As a test, 3 KNU BPMs with wakefield calculations by K. Bane were studied. The study should be repeated once wakefield calculations are available for the real IPBPM configuration.
