Minutes WP-meeting #104
Present:
Leif Jonsson, Ron Settles, Madhu Dixit, Martin Killenberg, Paul Colas, David Attie, Dan Peterson, Jochen Kaminski, Takeshi Matsusda, Steve Aplin, Keisuke Fujii, Klaus Dehmelt, anybody forgotten/overlooked?
(General) News:
Ongoing (CLIC) LCD studies, see slide from Jan. It was pointed out that we need to increase our Transnational Access (TA) proposals, see slide from Jan. It will be discussed during the next WP meeting.
PCMAG/LPTPC status, test beam schedule:
Nothing new in T24, PCMAG is undergoing minor modifications, it is planned to have the two motor systems for the vertical and rotational movement installed within the next two weeks. LP is being flushed with N2.
News from the groups:
Mid to end of August and September 2010 the Japanese groups are planning to have a test beam campaign with the JGEM setup and magnetic field. At the beginning of next week an Asian/LUND meeting will discuss about details.
The Saclay group is planning to have a test beam campaign before that period, possibly without magnetic field. It is expected that one MM module equipped with miniaturized electronics will be available.
One abstract will be submitted for the next IEEE meeting: Timepix with GEM/Ingrid. It is mostly wanted that test beam data will be available by then -> data taking in August?
Jochen gave a "translated" presentation from the DPG meeting in March by Thorsten Krautscheid, see slides.
AIDA discussion: AIDA proposal has been accepted, negotiation phase has started. We have to now move on with some rather decisive conclusions regarding S-ALTRO etc. The PCMAG modification, which will be significantly coming out of this funding has to be prepared now in more detail.
WP5 discussions:
Ron gave an update on TPC integration parameters: MDI parameters, in particular the dimensions of the TPC "envelope". The PCB distribution, 'smodules' per Readout BOards (ROBs) was presented.
The ALICE-TPC production manager is presently at DESY and will be interviewed regarding details of the field cage/central membrane production and his experiences with the ALICE TPC field cage.
AOB: it was decided to start the next meeting(s) 30 minutes later. Next WP meeting will be on Thursday, May 20 at 14:30 CET.
