Minutes LCTPC WP meeting #110 on July 29th, 2010 ===================================== Present: At DESY: Klaus Dehmelt, Ralf Diener, Volker Prahl, Jan Timmermans EVO/phonebridge: Stefano Caiazza, Leif Jonsson, Jochen Kaminski, Gilles De Lentdecker, Akira Sugiyama, Yifan Yang Apologies: Ron Settles, Keisuke Fujii, Takeshi Matsuda, Peter Schade 1) (General) News: - Reminder: our next PRC review is planned for the DESY PRC meeting on 14-15 October, which will be held in DESY-Zeuthen(!). We will need to produce a written status report of our activities over the past 2.5 years and give a presentation in the open session on October 14th. The written report is expected to be delivered 4 weeks in advance of the meeting, i.e. around mid-September, which actually means not that much time from now on in view of the holiday season. Jan T. will contact coordinators for production of regional status reports, although in the final report we should probably try to avoid this regional splitting, and merge them into a 'global' report of the LCTPC activities. Jan T. will prepare a bullited list of topics to be treated in this PRC report. It is planned to prepare the report with pdf-latex, which allows easier insertion of different formats for figures. 2) PCMAG/LPTPC status, testbeam schedule: - a geometrical survey of the lifting stage took place by a DESY survey team. One of the findings is that the rotation axis is slightly off from the coil axis - the final test of the motor systems with magnetic field ON will be done from two weeks before the next testbeam campaign in September, which is still foreseen for 12-26 Sept. 3) News from groups: DESY: Stefano reported that they are preparing a test box for the new DESY GEM module; still waiting for the delivery of the GEMs from CERN (should have been on transport); also waiting for the pad board being designed by Jochen Kaminski from Bonn. Bonn: Jochen is full time working on the layout of the pad board, hoping still top finish it before leaving for vacation. Leif commented that he received the needed pad board connectors in Lund. Asia: Akira reported that necessary parts for the new modules were ordered, some already received, waiting for others, but he is still confident that all will be received in the week. The schedule is still to ship at least 3 modules to DESY by the end-of-August. Lund: a modified design of some connector holding mechanics was found to be "fitting" by Akira. Lund also produced new kapton cables of various, better fitting lengths for the connection between the pad boards and the FECs and repaired FECS that were damaged during the last test campaign. 4) WP5 discussions: The Lund group sent around some 10 days ago a proposal for the structure/layout of a LP endplate module using the upcoming 16-ch version of S-Altro. This proposal and accompanying mail is attached to the meeting agenda http://ilcagenda.linearcollider.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4714 With a majority of the main WP5 actors absent, the only comment was by Leif, that Lund is going to investigate the consequences of the use of a future 64-ch S-Altro chip, but a preliminary conclusion is that it would be easier to be compatible with a 1x4 mm2 pad size. 5) no AOB Next WP meeting #111: August 12, 2010 14:30 CET http://ilcagenda.linearcollider.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4740 JT
