Minutes LCTPC WP meeting #111 on August 12th, 2010 ======================================= Present: At DESY: Klaus Dehmelt, Ralf Diener, Takeshi Matsuda,Christoph Rosemann, Jan Timmermans EVO/phonebridge: Leif Jonsson, Martin Killenberg, Gilles De Lentdecker, Ron Settles, Akira Sugiyama Apologies: Dan Peterson 1) (General) News: - A new school on Detectors and Instrumentation is being organised. CERN has volunteered to organise the first version in February 2011: http://cern.ch/edit2011 - Next week Thursday 19 Aug. 14:30 CET there will be a MarlinTPC meeting 2) PCMAG/LPTPC status, testbeam schedule: - LP on idle - PCMAG preparing for cooldown: tomorrow start filling with liquid N2, next week filling with liquid He; total time needed 2 weeks. After cooldown, do motor tests with magnetic field ON. 3) News from groups: DESY: all materials for DESY GEM module have arrived; testing GEM foils. Also the Tsinghua pad board has arrived. Asia: all parts for new modules have arrived; preparing the modules. Akira hopes to stay on schedule for shipping at least 3 modules to DESY by the end-of-August. Jan T. is working with a DESY summer student (Bonnie Chow) at the T24 testbeam to commission a single-Timepix/Ingrid detector with a handshaked Pixelman data acquisition (provided by Uwe Renz). This was already prepared last May, but later inspection of the data showed that there were many synchronisation mismatches between the (computer) trigger and the actual shutter opening of the chip. This looks much better now; shutter is opened (much) earlier by the end of the busy of the previous event. Next week, data taking will be tried together with the ZEUS MVTX telescope, which also runs the EUDAQ acquisition. 4) WP5 discussions: - Ron made a 3-week visit to KEK where he also discussed with Keisuke about the resolution formulae he presented in WP meeting #108 (see his slides there). This time he made an update to these slides which are attached to the meeting agenda http://ilcagenda.linearcollider.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4740 (several slides are just reminders of what was presented before). Slides 7/8 are reminding us of the ongoing work (by Takahiro Fusayasu and Hugo Franca on a dummy board to test cooling and power switching. Slide 15 presents a corrected formula and numbers compared to the mtg#108 version (Jan T. checked and believes they are correct now) According to Steve Aplin it is still time to change these in the simulation code for the large production. - Keisuke and Ron will continue to look into the 2-hit separation both in rphi and z Martin K. stated that in his detailed hit simulation data, the hit fitter starts seeing separated hits in rphi, with 1 mm wide pads and the two generated hits 2 mm apart. - Takeshi had not yet received a reply from Luciano Musa about possibility of purchase of spare PCA-16 chips - Leif Jonsson suggested to wait for scheduling a S-Altro-64 discussion till first layout is done by Bjorn (?) from Lund, who will be back in Lund next week. 5) AOB: A 60 kV power supply (on loan from Nikhef) is now at DESY for sample tests of new fieldcage pieces. Next WP meeting #112: August 26, 2010 14:30 CET http://ilcagenda.linearcollider.org/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=4759 JT
