Generator issues Issues from the meeting 12 Dec and mails afterward. Updated based on discussion at the WebEx meeting 2012-01-26 (1) Crossing angle: No crossing angle at generator. Should be boosted in Mokka/SLIC (2) Size of stdhep file. limit at 500 MB. (3) GRID directory /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd/generated /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd/ild /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd/sid /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd.log/generated /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd.log/ild /grid/ilc/prod/ilc/mc-dbd.log/sid Following directory structure for generator files was agreed at the meeting. [ECM]-[LumiLinkerNumber]/[process-type] Mor eexplicitly, for 1TeV sample, .../generated/1000-18/higgs/ ( higgs samples produced by Tim ) .../generated/1000-18/4f/ ( 4f samples produced by Mikael ) .../generated/1000-18/tth/ ( tth, ttbb, ttz produced by AM) .../generated/1000-18/2f/ ( 2f samples produced by Mikael ( qqbar, mumu, tautau, ee) .../generated/1000-18/6f/ ( 6f samples produced by Jan ) .../generated/1000-18/aaae/ ( aa-->ff, ae/ea->ff, aahadrons, aa-->minijets by Tim) .../generated/1000-18/eepairs/ ( pair files generated by Anthony ) Similar directory structure is used for another energies. (4) Log file. human readable generator information is stored at webs. tar ball of them are kept on GRID for backup and quick retrieval. (5) File name convention Example: E1000-B1b-ws.Pttz-ln4q-zqq.eR.pL.Gphyssim-1-02.I106336.005.stdhep E[CMEnergy-beam parameter acronyum] Following acronyms were suggested. Tim will add a column of acronyum in his web page of lumi-linker file. 12 1000 ILC_1000_with_TF_Aug_2010 wTF-Aug 13 500 CLIC_500_Feb_2011_Schulte 14 1000 ILC_1000_5pcBS_no_TF_Sep_2011 5pcBS 15 1000 ILC_1000_10pcBS_no_TF_Sep_2011 10pcBS 16 1000 ILC_1000_B1b_with_TF_Nov_2011 B1b-wTF 17 1500 CLIC_1500_Nov_2011 18 1000 ILC_1000_Waisty_opt_Jan_2012 B1b-ws P[process description string] G[generator name and version number] physsim-v01-01 whizard-1-95 pythia-6-4-22 ( not use dot ) e/p : e-/e+ polarization or photon nature e.g. eR80.pL30 (+80%,-30%), eL.pR (100% polarized) B beam strahlung photon, W: Weizker spectrum eB.pR : beamstrahlung photon + positron I[generator process ID] 0 to 99999 (SLAC), 1 100000 to 199999 (KEK) 200000 to 299999 (DESY) 300000 to 399999 (CERN) 3 digit number before ".stdhep" is considered as a file sequence number. Number start from 001. Include 001 even if there is only one file corresponding process. (6) whizard.prc and whizard.in questions and qnswers [Q] OPAL tune [Q] m_b =0 even not using aliasing ? [A] m_b=0 in model file. for pythia, m_b not 0. [Q] m_h and gamma_h for non-higgs channel [A] m_h=2TeV and gamma_h=100GeV for 1 TeV samples [Q] how to switch off gluon. alpha_s=0 in parameter block ( whizard.in ? ) [A] Set alphas=1E-6 in the parameter input block of whizard.in [Q] do we agree to use "omega w:c,c" in prc file ? [A] Yes. [Q] sqrt value in whizard.in [A] Should be the nominal beam energy. - Tim will send us a typical whizard.in file - Whizard and A6F source for the DBD production should be based on the latest version on SVN. Mikale will make a small change to SVN for pythia error handling very soon. Then, Tim will put a tag on SVN repository and inform us by e-mail. (7) Lumi-linker file. - Use lumi-linker file # 18 for 1 TeV production. (8) Pythia error handling - We neglect the limit of number of errors in event generation as long as the number of error is negligible small. (9) Mapping lumi-linker file number, cm energy, and beam parameter name http://www-jlc.kek.jp/~miyamoto/CDS/LumiLinker/LumiLinkerNumber.txt Is this sufficient ? Can Tim prepare a similar file at his site ? ==> Not necessary to prepare the file separately. We define acronyum for the beam name which will be included in Tim's web site as written in (5) (10) Questions to Tim from Mikael : " Does the value of the sqrts variable in the &process_input block have any meaning when USER_spectrum_on = T in the &beam_input block? " ==> answered in (6) (11) Web info and meta info. - A portal site to generator info is usefull. - Mikael and Tim will discuss during the week of LC Forum WS at DESY early Feburary and report the result to us. (12) Generator Worklist - Generator worklist and schedule prepared last September was updated. - Event statistics is at least 1000 1/fb or 10000 events whichever is greater. If more statistics is necessary, we will re-generate samples. Kinematic cut will be imposed if appropriate. (13) Mikael presented slides on generator issues, which are covered by items listed above. (14) Next meeting Next WebEx meeting will be held in 10 Feburary. evening in Japan and morning in Europe. Exact time will be arranged later by e-mail.
