Travel Directions to DESY

The sessions will take place in the CFEL building (labelled with number 99 on the map). The closest entrance is the Side Gate on Luruper Chaussee (12a on the map).

Arrival by Railway:

• from the Hamburg Main Station (Hauptbahnhof), take the S-Bahn S1, direction Blankenese or Wedel (Hamburg greater area ticket, 2.95 EUR);
• at Othmarschen change and take a bus number 1, direction Rissen or Schenefelder Holt, until Trabrennbahn Barenfeld, then walk 5 min. along Luruper Chausse until the DESY Side Gate;
• otherwise you can continue on the bus for two more stops, until Zum Hünengrab - DESY, which is directely in front of the DESY Main Gate;
• from Hamburg-Altona, you can go to the bus terminal directly outside the station and take a number 1 until Trabrennbahn Barenfeld (and walk to the Side Gate) or Zum Hünengrab - DESY (in front of the Main Gate).

From Hamburg Airport:

• take the S-Bahn S1 from the airport terminal, direction Blankenese or Wedel (Hamburg greater area ticket, 2.95 EUR);
• at Othmarschen change and take a bus number 1, direction Rissen or Schenefelder Holt, until Trabrennbahn Barenfeld, then walk 5 min. along Luruper Chausse until the DESY Side Gate;
• otherwise you can continue on the bus for two more stops, until Zum Hünengrab - DESY, which is directely in front of the DESY Main Gate;

Low cost companies (mainly Ryanair) provide flights to the Hamburg-Lubeck airport or Bremen airport: from there it is possible to reach Hamburg Central Bus Station (located just outside the Main Train Station) with shuttle buses (price around 15 EUR).

These are the easiest connections using public transportation to the DESY site, where the CFEL building is located.

Arrival by car:

• exit the Autobahn (A7) at HH-Bahrenfeld;
• arriving in Hamburg from the South, turn left onto the main road (Osdorfer Weg);
• arriving in Hamburg from the North: turn right onto the main road (Osdorfer Weg);
• then turn right onto Notkestraße. The main entrance of DESY is the second road on the left.
