The ILD detector concept group (www.ilcild.org) will hold a dedicated two day meeting in February 2019, to further develop the design of the ILD detector concept.

This meeting will be the next in a series of dedicated meetings to define and develop the ILD detector concept at the ILC. It will take place at KEK in Tsukuba, Japan.

The meeting will be mostly plenary, with talks on all major sub-systems, on physics studies, and on analysis tools. A special focus will be the ongoing re-optimization of the ILD detector concept.

Registration deadline: 10th February 2019.

Registration is now closed.

An ILD Physics and Benchmarking meeting will precede this workshop on February 23-25 also at KEK: https://agenda.linearcollider.org/event/8086/. Please confirm your attendance when registering for the main ILD meeting.

The 8th Mini-Workshop on ILC Infrastructure and CFS for Physics and Detectors will take place on the day following the ILD meeting, on Thursday, February 28th 2019, at KEK in Tsukuba: https://agenda.linearcollider.org/event/8123/ (please register separately on that page).

A visa is required to enter Japan for nationals of some countries, see https://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html for details. If you require a visa, please contact daniel.jeans@kek.jp, hisako@post.kek.jp as soon as possible to make the necessary arrangements.

For details on how to reach KEK, see https://www.kek.jp/en/CometoKEK/Tsukuba/

Accommodation may be booked at the KEK dormitory (this requires first registering as a KEK user, and availability may be limited [as of Jan 31, only rooms with shared bathroom are available for the workshop period]: see www.kek.jp/en/ForResearcher/KEKMap/UsersOffice/), or at nearby hotels, eg the Urban Hotel a 20 min walk from KEK, or at several hotels near Tsukuba Center, from where there is a regular bus service to KEK (see e.g. https://www2.kek.jp/rso/eng/Map/hotel.html).

UPDATE: This is a very busy period for hotels in Tsukuba, due to university entrance examinations. Most (all?) hotels in downtown Tsukuba are fully booked. Upmarket onsen (spa) hotels on Mount Tsukuba are available (e.g. Edoya, cost around 12000-14000 JPY per night: please contact daniel.jeans@kek.jp, hisako@post.kek.jp if you would like to us to book this hotel for you). Otherwise please consider finding a hotel along the Tsukuba Express train line (for example the Toyoko Inn next to Moriya Station, or several hotels around Kashiwanoha Campus stations), and using the train and Tsuku-bus to commute to KEK. In general, the density of hotels increases towards Tokyo.

Registration fee: 2500 JPY (to cover coffee etc).

Lunches: KEK cafeteria, cafe, and convenience store (lunch boxes available) are open on weekdays. If you require a lunch-box at the weekend, please indicate during registration (1000 JPY/lunch).

Meeting dinner will be held on Tuesday 26th (6000 JPY). Please indicate if you will join on the registration form.

Meeting Rooms:

  • 2/23-24: 4-go-kan 1F seminar hall;
  • 2/25-27 kenkyu-honkan Kobayashi hall.
