======================

 To profit from the hands-on examples, this is needed;

Obligatory:

=======

OS:

  [Almost] Obligatory : some Linux

System environment:

  Fortran compiler, gfortran v.>=8 recommended

  libblas-dev and liblapack-dev

  gawk

  svnclient

Programs:

  Pythia v6. However, this can be installed with a script (which partly
depends on git) that comes with SGV - should be run *before* the SGV
install script.

Highly useful:

========

 A c++ compiler (eg. g++), make and cmake will be needed, not for SGV
itself, but for various plugins.

  LCIO

  stdhep (also installable by a script that comes with SGV. But be
aware: it needs a cvs-client (!))

  root

  pandoc (to produce the pdf of the User's Guide during install)

Also, for the most comfortable ride, it's a good idea be in a
bash-shell, so if your default shell isn't already bash, type "bash<CR>"
on the command line before doing anything else!
