LCUK Silicon Meeting 8/6/15 (Virtual)

Attendees: Chris, Konstantin, Aidan, Joost, Peter, Yvonne, J.G.

Apologies: Armin, Phil

News

The Wiki site has been upgraded with new software. It seems to be good, but please let Joel know if you have any problems with it (or need help, or a new account).

Joost gave a summary of our activities at the recent CLIC workshop. The CLIC tracker group presented a new tracker layout, but they have not done much engineering as yet. This could be a good opportunity to collaborate.

AIDA-2020 has officially started, with Oxford building up a thermo/mechanical test facility.

Fully Depleted Low Power CMOS Detectors

Konstantin gave a talk on his latest design concept. This uses a 4T design in high-resistivity silicon to allow full depletion. There are novel features such as extra floating n-implants to extend the depletion region, and a buried pinned photodiode with a vertical transfer gate.

Power Studies & Strawman Design

There was further discussion of the power estimates, presented in the last meeting. It was agreed that the strawman design should use the nominal SiD barrel radii, and a 10x10 cm^2 sensor size as starting points. The pitch/granularity in r-phi and z are priorities for optimisation studies.

AOB

The next meeting will be a face-to-face in September. Liverpool offered to host.
