ILC-Japan physics WG: ESG discussion follow-up

→ Asia/Tokyo

Discussion topics today:

  • LC and FCC-ee are complemental
  • How to collaborate with China - CEPC and ILC are competing?
  • LEP3@CERN is not preferred since it vetoed all other Higgs factories: try to avoid LEP3 by
    • either supporting FCCee or
    • try to get LC
  • Baryonic flavor physics cannot be done with SuperKEKB (except significant upgrade on BT and FF)
    • Spin correlation, CP
    • Even LC statistics should help BSM search
    • (but upgrading SuperKEKB is lot cheaper)
  • Important that ILC is quicker
  • ESG is too political, we can have more neutral view
  • Anyhow strengthening LC physics is important
  • LC technology (for high energy) should be kept even if FCC realized
  • LC is better on secondary beam/beam dump
  • There may be interest from Belle2 members for flavor physics@FCC: contribution is good for now
  • Low energy demonstrator of ERL: brainstorming in December

Next steps

  • Try to clarify our view (referring ESG but clarify the point we should take and not take, with missing points) towards LC
    • Chen-san will try to present initial view at the next meeting
  • Review various LC scenario to start to think which we should take as the strategy
    • TS will review next time

Next meeting

  • End Oct - Begin Nov. hopefully before LCWS
