Oral presentation (remote) Superconducting RF Systems Superconducting RF Systems

Description

Nb3Sn SRF cavity development is demonstrating the first operational accelerating cryomodules. The technology holds the greatest appeal to smaller-scale applications, which can benefit from the simplicity of a turn-key compact cryocooler operation, but will benefit large accelerators as well, if higher gradients, implied by Nb3Sn superheating field, can be reliably demonstrated. The progress in understanding of material properties and composition is the key to enable further progress in gradients and quality factors in Nb3Sn-coated accelerator cavities. I will discuss the latest efforts in improving RF performance of Nb3Sn cavities at Fermilab and reaching the highest peak surface field to-date.
