Description
An ILC prototype cryomodule is currently under construction at KEK. It incorporates eight superconducting 1.3 GHz TESLA cavities. Precise setting and maintenance of the resonance frequency of these narrow-band cavities before and during operation require dedicated cavity tuners. The tuner design is based on the LCLS-II tuner. However, the specific requirements of the ILC prototype cryomodule, together with the current market situation, led to an almost complete re-engineering of the tuner. Due to limited resources, comprehensive system-level testing prior to deployment is not feasible. Therefore, dedicated qualification tests of the individual components are being carried out. This contribution reports on the current status of tuner development and production. In addition, two novel test methods for the slow actuator (stepper motor with gearbox) and the fast actuator (piezo actuator) under cryogenic vacuum conditions are presented, together with first measurement results.
