Description
The radio frequency (RF) system on a chip (RFSOC) is a next generation low level RF board that integrates both direct RF sampling for data collection with local processing and algorithmic control with an FPGA for high precision RF outputs. The ability to directly sample RF inputs allows for local control of real-time frequency tuning and pulse shaping feedback of the RF output pulse. We use this system to control an S-band (2.856 GHz) klystron connected to a single S-band cavity to perform automatic breakdown statistics and conditioning. Here, we present the conditioning performed by the automatic RFSOC feedback and demonstrate the RFSOC as a compelling candidate for LLRF generation at future collider facilities.
