Description
Superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) cavities with simultaneously high quality factor (Q₀) and high accelerating gradient are essential for the next generation of energy-efficient particle accelerators. Recent work at Jefferson Lab has demonstrated significant advances in cavity performance through optimized surface processing, with particular emphasis on medium-temperature (Mid-T) baking. We present recent experimental results on high-Q/high-gradient SRF cavities processed using Mid-T baking on single cell and multicell cavities, highlighting the effects of baking temperature, duration, and processing history on Q₀, and achievable accelerating gradient. The results demonstrate the potential of Mid-T baking as a practical pathway toward achieving high-Q operation with reduced rf loss, which are also being considered for CEBAF upgrade cavities
