Description
An ultra-compact sampling electromagnetic calorimeter based on tungsten absorber plates interspersed with thin silicon sensor layers was tested in an electron beam at DESY in June 2025. The thickness of the tungsten plates amounts to 1 radiation length, and are separated by only 1 mm. Data were collected with electron energies ranging from 1 to 6 GeV. The ongoing analysis includes measurements of the transverse shower profile and Moli`ere radius, the position and angular resolution, and the longitudinal development of electromagnetic showers as a function of beam energy. Dedicated data sets are also used to quantify the effects of inactive gaps between adjacent detector towers. Preliminary results from these analyses will be presented.
These studies in a test-beam offer important input for the optimization of highly granular and compact electromagnetic calorimeters for luminometers in future electron-positron collider experiments.
