Description
Under the MEXT Advanced Accelerator Element Technology Development (ATD) program, an International Linear Collider (ILC) cryomodule (CM) prototype is being designed and manufactured at KEK. The cryomodule consists of eight 9-cell superconducting cavities, frequency tuners, power couplers, a single-layer thermal shield, cooling pipes and a superconducting magnet. Along with cryomodule production, assembly and test facilities are being prepared at KEK. During the last fiscal year, the CM vacuum vessel, the designs of the gas return pipe, cooling pipes, and multilayer insulation (MLI) were finalized. Manufacturing of the vacuum vessel has started with the fabrication of the 12 m long vessel tube. In this fiscal year, manufacturing of the gas return pipe and the MLI has begun. In parallel, assembly procedures for the CM are being developed and optimized using 3D CAD simulations. The assembly work will be carried out in the Center of innovation (COI) building at KEK, where dedicated workstations are being prepared for each stage of the cryomodule assembly. Furthermore, the test bunker for cooling tests is being designed and planned to be completed in fiscal year 2027. Discussions are also underway on the cryogenic and RF interfaces layout to the CM in the test bunker. This contribution reports on the current status of CM manufacturing, recent progress in the assembly procedure development, and the preparation of the test facility, including the test bunker and interface planning for the cryogenic and RF systems.
