Description
Development of a high-intensity positron source requires reliable components capable of operating under severe beam-loading, thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic conditions. We are developing prototypes of three key components: a rotating positron production target, an accelerator structure for capturing and accelerating positrons, and a flux concentrator for providing a strong pulsed magnetic field near the target.
The rotating-target prototype has been completed and evaluated through rotation, vacuum, and thermal-load tests. This presentation reports its measured performance, together with the design concepts and fabrication status of the accelerator structure and flux concentrator. The remaining technical challenges and future plans toward improving the our prototype are also discussed.
