Description
The hybrid, asymmetric, linear Higgs factory (HALHF) is a plasma-based collider concept that combines plasma-wakefield acceleration (PWFA) of electrons and radio-frequency (RF) acceleration of positrons for asymmetric-energy collisions at 250 to 550 GeV. This has the potential to overcome the positron problem in PWFA, and provide a cost-effective collider with a reduced footprint. We report on recent progress in the HALHF project as we move toward a pre-CDR. This includes work on emittance preservation in the multistage plasma accelerator, handling of high heat flux and plasma temperatures, the driver-delivery complex, the beam-delivery system, and more. Finally, we discuss how developments in HALHF can be relevant to a 10-TeV collider design.
