Description

Next-generation electron–positron colliders, including FCC-ee, CLIC, and ILC, require exceptional beam stability and extremely small beam sizes to achieve their target luminosities. Meeting these requirements demands advanced beam-based alignment (BBA) techniques, supported by accurate simulations and experimental validation.

This work presents combined simulation and measurement studies using the newly developed Flight Simulator framework, designed to model realistic lattice imperfections, diagnostic performance, and correction procedures in electron accelerators and test facilities. The framework incorporates magnet jitter, wakefield effects, and measurement noise, enabling detailed studies of dispersion-free steering and related BBA procedures.

The toolset is further extended with an Emittance Measurement GUI for quadrupole-scan and multi-screen measurements. It supports beam-size acquisition and visualization at multiple screens, as well as the reconstruction of transverse emittances and Twiss parameters using linear-response, machine-learning, and RF-Track-based models.

Measurements performed at the Accelerator Test Facility (ATF), CLEAR, and FACET-II are used to benchmark the simulator and assess its predictive capability under varying operational conditions. Together, these developments provide an integrated environment for developing, testing, and validating BBA and emittance-measurement procedures for future linear colliders.
